December 29, 2009 Space Weather Event Reports This directory contains the last 75 Summary of Space Weather Event Reports issued. Issue time: Daily after 0250 UTC, usually online by 0300 UTC. Period covered: Previous UTC day. Description: The Summary of Space Weather Observations is a daily report of energetic solar event reports from the preceding day. See sample below A summary of significant solar events including start, maximum, and end times, region number and location, x-ray and optical classification of flares and significant radio emission. All available data for an event are included in this section if one or more of the following thresholds are reached: o Class-M or greater x-ray flare, o Optical flare of importance >2b, o Radio burst of >100 sfu at 245 MHz, o Radio burst >100% above background at 2695 MHz, o Type II or IV sweep frequency burst. There is no Secondary X-ray Satellite at this time. ====================================================================== GOES 10 Decommissioning Dec 1, 2009 GOES 14 Becomes Primary Satellite for XRS data No Secondary Satellite for X-rays or Electrons and Protons November 17, 2009: On Tuesday, 01 December, the GOES 10 satellite will be officially decommissioned. At that time, GOES 14 will replace GOES 10 as the Primary SWPC GOES Satellite for X-ray Events. !!!!! Another GOES Satellite Change !!!!! May 15, 2003 -- GOES 12 is now SEC's primary GOES satellite. Energetic Events are from GOES 12, but again the change is transparent. See details at http://www.sec.noaa.gov/GOES.html ======================================================================== !!!!! NOTICE GOES Satellite Changes !!!!! !!!!! GOES 8 Ended, GOES 12 Begins !!!!! April 8, 2003 SEC stopped using GOES 8 data. Energetic Events are from GOES 10, but the change is transparent. See details at http://www.sec.noaa.gov/GOES.html ======================================================================== June 8, 2001 FORMAT CHANGE Two Space Weather Event Reports sections were dropped June 8, 2001 -- The Possible_Coronal_Mass_Ejection_Events section is not available because SEC and the USAF stopped producing the daily Solar Coronal Disturbance Report. In addition, the Proton_Events section has been discontinued until a reliable source for these reports is available.
