G1 (Minor) Geomagnetic Storming Conditions Expected 6 January
published: Thursday, January 07, 2016 00:55 UTC

A G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storming warning has been issued for the 6 January UTC day. Current valid period is: 06/0118 UTC (05/2018 ET) until 06/1000 UTC (06/0500 ET). Solar wind speeds have increased above 600 km/s as Earth has connected with the expected coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS). Any interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) orientation shift to the south is expected to escalate geomagnetic response to the G1 (Minor) storming levels.
