published: Thursday, August 31, 2017 21:17 UTC

G2 (Moderate) geomagnetic storming warning is now in effect through 31/1800 UTC (31/1400 ET). The overall geomagnetic responses have escalated due to increased solar wind speed and  occasions of favorable orientation of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF). Solar wind speeds currently range from 600 km/s to 700 km/s. The G1 (Minor) storm warning was extended until 31/2100 UTC (1700 ET) and G1 levels continue to be reached.
