Region 3341 produces an X1.1 flare on 20 Jun

Region 3341 continues to mature as more of its trailing spots rotate into view for observation and analysis. Over the last 24-36 hours this region has been producing isolated M-class flares. More recently (1709 UTC/20 Jun) this region produced an X1.1 flare. Flares of the this magnitude can cause temporary degradation or complete loss of high frequency (HF) radio signals on portions of the sunlit side of Earth. This region will continue to be monitored closely by SWPC forecasters given its potential to produce additional flares of this magnitude.
