Elevated Geomagnetic Field Activity Expected - 21-24 April 2017

Elevated Geomagnetic Field Activity Expected - 21-24 April 2017
published: Saturday, April 22, 2017 11:16 UTC

An enhancement in the near-earth solar wind environment caused periods of G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storm conditions between 21/1800-2359 UTC.  The solar wind is expected to become further enhanced due to the anticipated onset of a negative polarity coronal hole (high speed solar wind stream) which is expected to cause additional periods of G1 (Minor) storm levels on 22-24 April with G2 (Moderate) storm levels likely on 23 April.
