G1 (Minor) Watch for the 31 August and 1 September UTC-days

G1 Watch for 31 Aug - 1 Sep
G1 (Minor) Watch for the 31 August and 1 September UTC-days
published: Saturday, September 02, 2017 03:48 UTC

A G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storm watch is now in effect for the 31 August and 1 September, 2017 UTC-days. The G1 Watch was issued in anticipation of increasing solar wind speeds from a coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS). The combination of elevated solar wind speeds and anticipated total interplanetary magnetic field strengthening is likely to result in periods of G1 storming beginning as early as 31 August. Keep checking our SWPC website for additional updates and forecasts.
